Rock Vocalist
|
Highway To Hell just blasted out in the bar and it got me thinking, who, in your humble opinion' is the best rock vocalist? Bon Scott for me all day long although Danny Bowes is ready got up there.

Iggy Pop is a great front man, but hardly the best vocalist!

Robert Plant for his epic voice that goes with Led Zeppelin's epic rock.
Kurt Cobain for his deranged angry voice that goes with Nirvana's deranged angry music.
Tom Waits, who hasn't really done any rock songs, but just because his voice itself fucking rocks.

Bon Scott
Lyrics, living the life, stage persona, the whole deal.
Powerage for me is the greatest rock album ever released and still after all these years and gigs, the time I saw him with the band is the best live show I've ever seen.

I was driving along the A127 one day a few years back and a red Ferrari pulled up along side me at some traffic lights. The driver was a bloke I went to school with and he promptly pulled over for a chat. It turned out that he'd ended up as a drummer for Robin Trower and he'd released a live album that had sold really well in America so he bought the car with the royalty cheque. He then went on to drum for Gary Glitter...... the last I heard he was playing with the Rubettes and he still us the Ferrari.

No offence, but am I alone in feeling there's something of the Smashey and Nicey about all this ? You know, middle aged men in dodgy jumpers talking about ROCK.

I think he was replying to my James Dewar/Robin Trower link
